With 19 racers competing in over 40 events, Tieni Duro left a positive mark on the 2008 Sea Otter Classic Bicycle Race with 5 podium finishes and several additional Top 10 placements. The characteristic Red, Yellow and Blue kit of the Tieni Duro was virtually everywhere at the venue, from the road courses to the mountain bike-oriented events and everywhere in between, including the food court and vendor concessionaire!
The road bike racing events on Thursday and Friday were greeted with sunny and clear skies and tricky Monterey-peninsula winds. Aggressive, smart riding by Tieni Duro Juniors coupled with keen teamwork culminated in launching Peter Taylor into the 1st spot for the prestigious 15/16 circuit race, which is held on the Laguna Seca racetrack, reaching speeds of 45+ mph coming down the corkscrew. Peter also earned a 3rd Place for the ridiculously fast, hilly road race where he was supported by several other Duros including Adam Hodes, who is fast becoming a force on the Junior racing circuit, and Alex Gee, who unfortunately was beset with mechanical problems throughout the race.
For many of the Juniors on Tieni Duro, Sea Otter is one of the two key race events of the season, with the second being the Junior National Championships held this year in Southern California in August.
