Wente Criterium

The Tieni Duro Juniors were determined to put a teammate on the podium of this classic criterium, and they discussed tactics going in to the race, which combines both the 15/16 and 17/18 fields. On the second to last lap, Adam Hodes worked with his friend and team captain Peter Taylor to create a clear lane. Taylor, always an aggressive presence in both the junior and elite men’s pelotons, knew what to do with it. Peter instructed teammate Lucas Leblow to “get on my wheel and don’t let anyone follow”. Working together in the final turns, Leblow and Taylor rode the field off their wheels by more than 100 meters with a violent jump that nobody could follow. Leblow came around teammate Taylor at the line for the well-deserved win, several seconds ahead of the field. Lucas noted that “I’ve been training with Peter a lot this season…he is so focused and strong…and that has really improved my riding too.” “It is nice to win my first crit, and I really owe Adam and Peter and my other teammates too for their selflessness”.

In the Masters 45+, Tieni Duro mentor Mike Gadow continues to place highly, following up his podiums at Sea Otter Circuit Race and also Santa Cruz Criterium with another podium at Wente. Look out Mike, Cat 3 is just around the corner.
