Pescadero Coastal Classic Road Race

I was not ready for this race. It was one of those races that snuck up behind me and I just ended up going for the heck of it. But I have only myself to blame. I wasn’t physically fit enough to race but I tried my best. At the 2nd hill I was dropped and was alone for the rest of the race. Going down the hills were horrible, it wasn’t raining but it was so misty that I couldn’t see anything w/ my glasses on. At the top of the hill everybody kept on saying, “good race, and good job” and so I thought that the race had ended. So by the time I had figured out that I still had another lap to go, I was too tired, and too unfit to go on.

Definitely my favorite race for the year. Started off feeling really good stayed w/ the group, even got a prime lap. Three quarters into the race my breakfast started talking back and lost all my power because of a sever stomach ache. Still got 3rd and learned a valuable lesson: never eat lest then 3 hrs before a race (thanks Max for the tip) and never change what you have in your bottles the day of the race. But altogether it was fun.

Started way too fast for me and got dropped from the fast group about 4 laps in and was alone for many more until Gaelan and I worked together for the rest of the race. Enjoyed our Team Sponsored event of the year!

Junior Men 15/16 Road Race

That race was hard! Nothing really monumental happened to me during the race. It pretty much was me getting dropped on the wall, first time up. Then I was alone for a long time, until I caught this kid and we started working together for the rest of the race. I dropped him going up the last 2 mile (Barloy Canyon) hill and then was rudely surprised that I was so slow that the course marshals wouldn’t let me go onto the race track to finish! So, next year goal is to be fast enough to get an official finish.

This was my first real race so I was very nervous. After the rollout, the real race started, and I couldn’t keep up for more than ten min. After I was dropped, I met up w/ Gaelan and we worked together for a while until I was dropped again. After 1 lap alone, I met up w/ Nicholas and he and I worked together until I accidentally went to hard and dropped him. The last lap was pretty much me passing the guys in my group that were all burnt out. I know I should have tried harder, maybe I could have at least stayed w/ Gaelan. |
