On the starting lap we were trying to go slow, but with Collin and another junior up front, it was petty hard to keep up a nice easy pace for the first few miles. But when we hit the 3 mile marker Collin broke loose and every one followed. Then Galen's chain fell off and a lot of juniors were caught up behind that too. We all passed the women's group and kept going straight past them. There was an extreme headwind that made me get off the back of the group because if you were off by five feet, you were done for. The Team Swift guy that made us (a junior from the Reno Hilton, Tyler, and I) fall off of the back came back onto our tail by catching a free ride with the women's group. The women's group was very nice to cheer us on while we were trying to get past all of them. The junior who was from the Reno Hilton was not doing anything great for me so on the last lap I decided to drop him and try to catch up to the group, but they were too far ahead. Fortunately, I had enough energy to stay up and away from him and I got sixth place. Without the help from Tyler, who was the only other junior in our group who was doing anything, I would not have been able to save enough energy, but hopefully next time Tyler will feel better and be able to not throw up and stay in to get a great placing too. I think our team worked very well together and next time maybe we can do even better.
