Teammates: (17-18) Jordan, JP, Nick, Lars, Tyler, Julian

The whole team got to the race about 6:20 I think, and it was effing cold. I shivered over to get my number, then started warming up, thank god. Once I got my blood flowing, I felt a whole lot better. We got off the trainers and rode a few laps of the course, one slow, two fast. I really liked this course, by the way. the shicanes were super fun to go blasting into. I felt good about myself noticing that I was one of the few who was actually pedaling through all of the turns. While I was riding the course, I almost got taken out by a Wolfpack rider as I was warming up. She swerved right in front of me as I was passing her. Not a good sign for the race to come. It was also really bad idea for the organizers to start all the Juniours at once. At the start, I attacked straight away because I had a really fast clip-in. I figured what the hell. It felt good to hear from Lars that Blake said that he was hurting trying to catch me :) So, race race race, attack again, avoid crash right next to me, race race race, FLAT TIRE. Dammit. On the second to last lap, too. I was feeling really good and was hoping to lead out Tyler and maybe do well myself. But alas, it was not to be. I got a spare wheel and just stuck it out till the end. I was pretty bummed, but when you get a mechanical, especially so late in the race, there's nothing you can do. Congrats to Tyler again on his win, with no hargy-bargy this time. I think as a team we are coming along really well in terms of attacking during a race, let's keep up the good work guys Yeah! Okay! We Can Do It! *enthusiastic thumbs up*

Teammates: Jordan, Jason

So after a quick bite and spin around, it was time to race again. Man Jason, you're right, the 4's are sketchy! I attacked once, the only attack that actually worked during the race I think. (Maybe I'm just stupid that way). Stayed away for a lap and a half. After that, I found myself near the back of the group, unfortunatly. There was a bad crash right under the Red Bull arch about halfway through. According to Jordan, some dude flatted, then rolled his tire, taking out another guy, who slid on his stomach until being stopped by the curb in his face. Ugly. Amazingly, they had the ambulance there for only one lap, then it was gone. Good efficiency on their part. Towards the end, I started moving up, but never quite as far as I would have liked, maybe top 20, instead of top ten. This made it difficult to find a wheel in the sprint, but I think I did okay considering the circumstances. I won 15 bucks, so I'm happy. Nice 6th Place, Jordan, and Jason, your time will come, my son...It'll just be me and you pretty soon, so I'll be there for ya. Oh yeah, there was another crazy crash with this dude sliding along on his cleats on the road, swerving all over the place and finally managing to keep himself upright, but took out another guy, not as hard though. Props to that guy for keeping it up.

This was my first big race of the year and I'm pretty happy with the way it ended up. The race start was really early (8:35) but luckily it wasn't too far away. Me, Nick, Jordan, and Ye were all doing a pretty good warmup for about 40 min. before the race, which really helped loosen my legs and wake me up. I really enjoyed the course for this crit; much better than most of the four-corner flat crits that I've done before. The climb in it was a good leg-stretcher-outer, then you got to rest a little on the descent. I was dissappointed that the race was so short, though. The race itself was pretty uneventful with not a whole lot of attacks, except there was a crash on the first lap that Nick got caught behind, unfortunatly. On the last lap, I got on to Tyler's wheel, who was on Joe's wheel, who was on Blake's wheel. In the sprint, I was actually quite a bit behind Tyler and Joe. I was pretty happy when Joe got DQ's for pulling a Robbie McEwen/ Paolo Bettini on Tyler, which bumped Tyler to first, me up to second and Ye to third. Overall, a great day for Tieni Duro!
