Berkeley Hills Road Race

Category: juniors 15-16
Teammates: Nick A., Miguel, Alicia, Alex, Adam, Will, Peter, Chris, and Max ( i think that is all)
Well this was my first mass start race and thus my first race report.
Yay! Anyway everything started out fine. I was feeling great and got a good warm-up. At first I thought it would be hard to stay with the group down san pablo dam road but it turned out that that was the easy part. It was really sketchy tho at first. We kept speeding up and then braking which was really annoying. I stayed in the front at the beginning of bear creek road before mama bear and thought I could stay with the pack until the end......but I was wrong. As soon as we hit mama bear Pete, the amd kids, and some other riders sprinted up the hill, leaving me in the dust. By keeping a steady pace I was able to pass quite a few riders near the top but the main group was long gone.
I stayed with Nick for a little bit and then I got dropped. I almost caught back up to him on papa bear but didnt quite make it. So I was on my own. I rode for a while by myself and then alex, adam, and a rider from san jose picked me up. When we turned on to bear creek we dropped Will. From then on I rode with adam and the san jose kid. At the finish the san jose kid beat me by a bike length or two. I came in 12th over all. Not bad...I only regret not catching Nick on papa bear.
If I had done that then we could've worked together and maybe caught some riders.
