I was born in 1972 and my earliest memory of riding a bike was at about the age of 5 or 6, and running head first into a pole because I couldn't figure out how to steer or use coaster brakes. Despite the lump on the head, I have since been obsessed with anything with two wheels.
At the age of 15 I took up Mountain Biking, and was one of the first on the block to get one of those brand new front suspension forks. Watch out everyone, 1.5 inches of travel that was damped about as well as your average pogo stick. Hey.. with this thing.. I can race !!

Well, a couple years later, with no clue as to what we were doing, my friends and I took up MTB racing. I was pushing 190 lbs, and couldn't go uphill very well, but it taught me to go downhill VERY fast. Perhaps proper training would have helped with the uphill part, but there was nobody around to teach us any of that.
Fast forward 15 years.... 15 years of riding.... riding a lot, but not racing much, and I stumble across Tieni Duro in its 2nd year. A group of kids with a love for the bike, and a group of more than generous adults doing their best to help the kids along their journey with the bike. I ended up helping out as a mentor for a while, and before I knew it, the Juniors talked me into racing, on the road this time.
I spent the next 5 years, racing, coaching, and learning a lot. As the Director Sportif of the team I focus on race day logistics as well as being the primary race day coach. I have enjoyed working with all of the juniors that have moved through our program and watching them achieve their goals and dreams. I look forward to continuing this success with the current members of the club in 2007 and beyond.
