Lance Larsen - Mentor

Lance serves a dual role on Tieni Duro as a member of the management team with an emphasis on marketing and PR, and as a ride mentor, focused on “adventure rides”, supporting the coaches and other mentors with junior leadership development, and having fun.

Lance became involved with the team when his son Trevor joined in 2006. Lance has ridden and raced bikes in most ways possible, starting as a kid in the 70s with BMX racing, progressing on to cross-country mountain bike racing, cyclocross racing, and as a Cat 4 road racer in college in the 80s. He has even raced downhill MTB, ridden track, and has competed in bike trials, though that phase was mercifully brief for all concerned. Lance also enjoys swimming and trail running, and has competed in numerous triathlons as well. These days, Lance mostly focuses on endurance events including double centuries and “self-supported epic rides” in the Sierras, the Pyrenees, and the Alps. However, he can still be found racing a few times each season as a Masters 45+, if the course is flat and the embarrassment factor low.

Lance holds a B.Sc. In Geology, an M.Sc. In Engineering Geology, and an M.B.A. He has been fortunate enough to have worked as a teaching assistant, an engineering & management consultant, a digital media managing director, and as an urban infill real estate developer, among other endeavors.
