Lance serves on Tieni Duro as the Marketing and Sponsor Liaison, working with the organization's amazing sponsors, patrons, and "friends of the team" to help grow the sport of competitive cycling. He is also a ride mentor, who focuses on creating and fostering the idea of “adventure rides”, which have become Tieni Duro institutions by now. He is also responsible for designing and operationalizing the Death Valley Leadership Camp and the Carmel Valley Spring Training Camp.
Lance became involved with the team when his son Trevor joined in 2006. Lance is a lifelong cyclist and has ridden and raced bikes in most ways possible, starting as a kid in the 70s racing BMX in the Oakland-Berkeley Hills, and later home-made MTBs, and then on to road bikes in the 1980s. Lance created and is responsible for the Team's Health & Safety program and also the Paceline 101 Etiquette guidelines.
Lance holds a B.Sc. In Geology, a M.Sc. in Engineering Geology, and an M.B.A. He has been fortunate enough to have worked in teaching, as an engineering & management consultant, in interaction design & brand management, and as an urban infill real estate developer, among other endeavors. His favorite job of all has been working with his friends at Tieni Duro and seeing the Juniors blossom into amazing, talented and thoughtful young adults. |
