I was introduced to cycling by my friends Miguel and Will. At the time, I was playing soccer and thought cycling would be a good way to cross train. I soon got my own road bike and discovered my love of cycling. Not long after, I joined Tieni Duro.
At first I was the only girl on the team. I remember going to Sunol on my first ride with the team and feeling like it was the hardest thing I had ever done. I started racing in 2007. In early 2008 I had some health issues that kept me off the bike for half the year. Coming back from that was one of the most challenging things I've gone through. In 2009 I didn't have very good race results but I still enjoyed riding. This past winter I started working with Shawn for caoching. I followed the training plans he made and saw huge improvements during the 2010 season.
I will be going off to UC Davis this fall and I look forward to riding and racing with the collegiate team. I can't thank Shawn, Jason, and Rick enough for all that they've done to help me with my cycling. It has also been great to see the number of girls participating in the sport grow so much these past four years.
