I first got into cycling with the help of Henry Nelson. I had ridden with him a few times and he told me about Tieni Duro. The first ride I did with the team was around 50 miles, which was the longest ride I had ever done. At the end of the ride, I was completely dead, but hooked. I continued to go on the group rides and made some new friends along the way. The first few months on the team, I was riding my dad's old bike, which did not fit properly.
The Cherry Pie Criterium was my first race, and gave me an idea of what racing would be like. After the race, my coach came up to me and recomended that I get a proper racing bike with a proper fit. In March I purchased a new bike that actually fit correctly which helped on long rides and races. At this point I was riding five days a week. So far, I have gotten dropped in all of the races I have been in, I hope to improve my climbing and overall fitness for the 2011 racing season which will be my last year as a 15-16. |
