For a while my cycling life consisted of riding my mountain bike to and from my math tutor. It took me an hour to go ten miles so I decided I wanted the efficiency of a modern road bike. I got my first road bike and after several months of riding that around a Tieni Duro alum pulled up next to me and told me about the program and gave me the website. About a year later I decided I was ready for my first group ride. We "just did Diablo," a significant climb for anybody, and by the end I was ready for a large meal and a nap. I continued to come back and after about three months I was staying in the pack for the whole ride.
A year of training and racing later I am feeling ready to take on the 15-16s next year. 2010 was my first year to get used to the whole racing program and build my strength. I love cycling because there is no other sport where you can push yourself for so long and so hard without injury, and because the community is the nicest group of people out there.
