My interest in cycling started out with mountain bikes when I was about 8. Mostly I rode up in Redwood, Joaquin Miller, and Chabot with my dad and friends Chris and Anthony Reardon. We started out just doing short rides on fire trails, but by the time I was 11 or so, we were doing 2-3 hour technical rides with difficult climbing and descending. When I was 12, we went to the French Alps where we cycled and watched the Tour de France, which was very exciting. At that point, I knew I wanted to ride road bikes. For Christmas that year, I got a road bike, which I have been riding ever since, in many places around the world, including mountain passes in California, the French Pyrenees, and Spain too.
In June 2006, I was riding out to Danville with my dad and Chris, where we ran into our neighbors JP LeClair and his dad Steve. They told us about Tieni Duro and invited us to come on a training ride the following Sunday. Chris and I met some of the guys and rode several training rides with Coach Rick Moale, who helped me with paceline skills and being more efficient on the bike. Later I met Coach Jason Kent and then I joined the team. I only did one race this year, a time trial up the north side of Mount Diablo. I placed 2nd in the 13/14 age group, and that was nice for my first race. This year I want to work on my handling skills, develop more speed, especially when climbing, learn about race tactics, and maybe help the stronger riders on the team in a couple races if I am ready.
Other than cycling, I like downhill skiing, cooking, going to see live music, watching movies, and traveling with my friends and family
